Newton's Cradle
\"To every action there is an equal and opposite reaction\"
Jesus Mary Joseph School conducted an activity \'Newton\'s Cradle \'on 23 August 2022 for students of Class IX. Through this activity, students were introduced to the physical principle of conservation of momentum found in many aspects of the day to day life and used in all the areas of sciences. Students built their own Newton’s Cradle with simple materials. When the first ball of Newton\'s Cradle collides with the second, the first ball stops, but its momentum isn\'t lost, just transferred to the second ball, then the third, then the fourth, until it reaches the very last ball. Students witness this conservation of momentum as the last ball swings into the air with nearly the same momentum as the first ball. Students participated enthusiastically in this enriching and highly informative activity, conducted under the guidance of Ms Sharmila Nair.
